WHAT’S HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS? Our onions in their new beds.
That’s right, great fall weather kept us on schedule for our transplanting operations. Our holiday gift has been delivered with millions of happy onion plants all tucked into their sandy beds and beginning their journey to Vidalia Onion super stardom.
OK – enough with the holidayisms. Yes, transplanting is complete and our new plants are “cutting root” and currently using energy reserves to grow roots. It’s too early to speculate on crop quality or sizing while we are in these early stages, but we can report that our crop acreage is consistent with previous years. In the meantime, we have plenty of Peruvian onions ready to continue shipping throughout the winter months.
Stay tuned for regular crop updates from our resident onion expert Cliff Riner. He’ll be sharing the entire onion journey and keep you abreast of crop and quality conditions.
