A Leader in Preservation

Protecting the environment while ensuring the health and well-being of our farmworkers is very important to us.  As a third-generation family farmer, we participate in active conservation programs including land trusts with the Georgia Alabama Land Trust which allows us to preserve forest lands, create buffer zones, prohibit development, and implement land management practices that improve ecosystems and wildlife habitat. But our work doesn’t just stop in Georgia. Wherever we grow we invest in conservation including our efforts to earn the Rainforest Alliance Certification on our Peruvian sweet onion production in Peru (available from August through March).  The Rainforest Alliance is working to solve some of the most pressing social and environmental issues of our time—including the climate crisis—by changing the way the world produces and consumes food.

We all play a role in improving our environment and recycling is one of the ways we can do our part. We continue to take steps to make our packaging recyclable, utilize a portion of recycled materials and participate in How2Recycle. You can learn more about recycling on their website and look for handy tips about how to recycle, types of material, how to prepare materials for recycling, and more.

Sustainability is not a checkmark on a box, it is an effort in continuous improvement and education that allows us to continue to adopt new technology and ideas that will improve and protect the land for generations to come.

Our sustainability program includes three main initiatives:

  • Crop rotation to preserve the soil

  • Conserve water & ecosystems
    Zero waste goal

  • Integrated pest management

  • Reduce pesticides & fertilizers

  • Fair wages for all of our farmworkers
  • Ensure good working and living conditions
  • Protect the health & safety of our farmworkers
  • Our boxes and bag packaging is 100% recyclable
  • The plastic film and netting on our bags is made from 20% recycled product
